Keeper team...need suggestions

Postby killertofu2222 » Wed Mar 11, 2009 8:55 pm

Ok so a group of friends and I have had the same 12 team yahoo h2h league with basically the same stat categories every year ( R, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, IP, W, CG, SV, K, ERA, WHIP). Last year at our annual draft we decided to turn it into a keeper league since all of us have been involved since the beginning. Our rules were simple, keep 5 of your best players and last place gets the first overall pick in the following years draft. I came in last in 08 so i got the first pick and Lance Berkman being the best available by far, i naturally took him. So..heres my team.

C Jeff Clement
1B Mark Teixera
2B Chase Utley
3B Adrian Beltre
SS Stephen Drew
OF Jason Bay
OF Carlos Lee
OF Andre Ethier
UTIL Lance Berkman
BN Matt Wieters
BN Lastings Milledge
BN Chris B. Young
BN Alex Gordon
BN Mark Reyonlds

SP Jake Peavy
SP Zach Greinke
SP Scott Baker
RP Carlos Marmol
RP Brandon Lyon
P Ted Lilly
P Gil Meche
P J.J Putz
BN Kenshin Kawakami
BN David Purcey
BN Sean Gallagher

I know i need speed desperately and am currently working on a 2 player deal that would get me Liriano and Ellsbury. Please help, i would like to have the last pick in next years draft ;-D

nice team, i like it for the future.

You have some young bats who could come into their own this year (gordon, young, weiters, ethier) and if they do, you'll be a contender. But i feel you need a triples/stolen base threat. The deficiency is such that I agree with your Ellsbury strategy: you'll need an all-wheels kind of player like him or Tavares or (gasp) Bourn just to stay in the middle of the pack.

your pitching isn't sexy but very solid. it won't really hurt you except in wild card categories like CGs. the addition of Liriano would go a long way in helping. I'm curious to know what this proposed trade is? Good luck. you should have some interesting keepers by year's end ;-D

I offered him Jason Bay and Scott Baker for Liriano and Ellsbury. I had originally offered him Peavy and Alex Gordon for the same pair because i just don't like Peavy. I think he's going to get hurt this year...but instead i offered bay because i feel i can give up some power for speed and i think that Liriano is going to have a monster year. Plus, if all goes well and peavy reverts back to old form, i could have a very solid 1-2 punch without losing a whole lot. I need room for speed anyway
