Constructive criticism... WHIR

Postby PavanoAllstars » Wed Mar 11, 2009 8:43 pm

Just had our live draft, I could have a legitimate power problem... I need Upton, Tulo and V-Mart to perform like their "old" selves... :-o

Categories:
Offense: hr, r, rbi, obp, 3b, sbs
Pitching: wins, quality starts, svs, era, whip, ks

1400 ip limit

C V-Mart
1B Fielder
2B Kinsler
3b Miggy Cabrera
ss Tulo
of BJ Upton, Ellsbury, Tori Hunter
Util Figgins, Milledge
Bench: Adam Jones, Konerko, Elijah Dukes, Denard Span

SPs: Beckett, Liriano, King Felix, Wainwright, Kershaw, Smoltz (DL), Tommy Hanson (please be called up), Clay Buchholz (likely will drop him and pick up a FA
RPs: Nathan, BJ Ryan, Brian Wilson, Mike Gonzalez

There it is... please give me your two cents and i'll repay the favor
For every Brett Myers there's a Nate McLouth...

It doesn't look like you have a power problem with the prince and miggy anchoring your lineup.. i think milledge will hit 20+ this year as will tulo, and v-mart. I also see Elijah Dukes having a big year.

I think your pitching is solid; although you may want to trade for a tier 1 guy. I personally have a man crush on Liriano and think he has a legitimate shot at winning Mr. Cy Young's award this year. The guy is dirty.

Overall, good draft ;-D

Your UTIL is pretty weak and could use an upgrade. I think you can survive trading King Felix and Figgins for a better option at UTIL, since both players are overrated in my opinion and should garner a decent hitter. I am not a big fan of either Liriano (even though he is healthy) nor Beckett, but it's a decent staff mixed with a decent lineup that could use a minor tweak or two.

I like the team a lot. Especially the pitching. I agree you should drop Bucholz and pick up another bat...your util spot and bench are full of guys with upside but also some risk. But I wouldn't think of letting go of your other SP's. There's enough injury risk at SP that I wouldn't want to spread myself too thin. Between dropping bucholz and putting smoltz on the DL you should be able to get 2 more bats.

Personally, Im not that high on Hanson, so I would drop him too...but i understand how it can be with your favorite prospect.....but if there are some quality players left on the waiver wire, I don't think Hanson is worth the risk.

But really, I'm picking nits....great team! Good luck!

i like your team, very nice draft. agreed, if those players produce like their old selves, you'll be in good shape.

hitters: nice infield! my only issue is that you lack power. plenty of speed to trade, though. i think you should give some to me.

starters: solid, but drop buccholz. he has no value in a ten-team league.

relievers: quality and quantity. well done.

i think if you trade some speed for power, you will be a contender.

seriously though, think about trading some speed for power:

I actually think your fine, yor concerns about V Mart should be shunned away since he seems to be having a good spring so your only other concern with Upton we have to see. You have pleny of bats even so. Real nice makeup of a team! ;-D

I like the overall look of your pitching. They should preform well in all catagories. Your offense does have some big hitters but I think it would be smart to go after one more power bat. You should also have an abundance of SBs this season. If I were you I would try to trade Buchholz and one of your base stealers and see if that can land you a power hitter.
