David Wright #1....Flawed logic??

Postby T-Ball » Wed Mar 11, 2009 3:37 pm

I play in a 5x5 roto style yahoo league that starts 13 position players. Averaging the last 4 years shows the highest stat getter in each category:

Runs = 1,175 (90 per player)
HR's = 313 (24 per player)
RBI's = 1,174 (90 per player)
SB's = 221 (17 per player)
Avg = .292

I then took projected stats to see based on the above averages who was really a 5 tool player. The only one was David Wright. Should he be considered #1 overall?

Without a standard deviation I don't think that mean anything. Let's say player A is above average at every category but just barely above average and player B destroys everyone in R, HR, RBI and BA but doesn't steal. Player B is more valuable.
