I'm taking over someone else's keeper team. Full roto, snake draft, 11 teams, standard 5x5 settings, 10 offensive starters (9 + Util). Keep 2 bats, 2 arms and 1 flex. Costs you their round from last year (FA = 25th round), or if kept previously, last year's keeper round divided by 3. I don't have many pitching options, so I'm going with Broxton and Liriano in last rounds (both were FA last year) and keeping 3 bats.
Best bat options - round cost: ARod - 1 Pedroia - 9 Jason Bay - 11 Alexei Ramirez - 25 Stephen Drew - 17 Ryan Ludwick - 25 Chris Davis - 25
I originally posted this question a month ago before all of the ARod news, but I think it bears repeating now. I'm now leaning towards Bay, Alexei and C. Davis. I'm also in talks with one guy to trade Ludwick or Alexei for a 6th round draft pick. If it were Alexei that I traded, I would probably keep Pedroia instead. I tried to make 2 for 1 offers to a couple guys with great value keepers, but they just aren't paying enough attention to the league yet, and keepers are due on the 15th. Thoughts?
I love the value you can get for Chris Davis there. My other picks would be Alexei and Bay, who I think will put up 30-100 this year. Stay away from Arod. Not worth the headache unless you can get him later in the draft, but you probably wont be able to.
