Mariners’ Bedard scratched from start
PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) — Seattle Mariners left-hander Erik Bedard was scratched from his scheduled start against Kansas City on Wednesday because of a sore butt.
Bedard was on the disabled list from April 15-26 because of soreness and inflammation in his left hip. He didn’t start after July 4 and had shoulder surgery Sept. 26.
“Right now we’re not concerned because it’s not in the hip joint, it’s more in the muscle,” manager Don Wakamatsu said Wednesday. “I think it’s just really about being on the mound again. This is more muscle soreness. He had some stiffness in there about four days ago, and we thought it was best at this point to rest it a little bit. It might be a blessing to get his arm a little bit of a break, too.”

That's gotta be a first....scratched from his start because of a sore butt....moving right along here, not sure I want to comment on it any further..... Thanks for the chuckle however!!

WOW.

This makes me wonder.

You don't have to be physically fit to play baseball...but, c'mon...it seems like most players go sit on the couch all offseason and eat chips...then come back and play a little in spring training, and have dumb injuries like a sore butt...

If that is the case (taking the winter off, so to speak), how hard is it to keep up their daily stretching from the regular season up throughout the winter?

Zumaya has had a couple of weird injuries. Didn't he hurt himself last year helping his brother move out of his house?? I thought I heard about that, although you are more apt to hurt yourself moving furniture than playing Guitar Hero or Rock Band....LOL

Ouch, i didn't know that one.

Recently, i think it was Jose Guillen that decided to remove his ingrown nail with tweezers, which might count as the most painful experience/injury, imo.
