14 team H2H league. Scoring system allows all hitters and all pitchers to have equal value. My strategy is not to draft a pitcher until the 5th or 6th round or maybe even later and looking to first target Billingsley (CY Young potential and great value). Considering that Pujols, Ramirez, Reyes, Wright, and Howard are off the board...who should i target in rounds 1 and 2? I was comtemplating Cabrera, Sizemore, or Tex. Leaning toward Cabrera or Tex. The reason being is that in the 1st round I am looking for a potential .300/30/110 guy who walks more than he K's. Is this the right strategy? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. WHIR!!!
What is wrong with Tex? He's 28...still in his prime, new left-hander hitter friendly park (same dimensions as old yankee stadium), history of crushing Am. League pitching (.358 with ANA last year). K's less than Cabrera (-.5 points for K). Would you please make a brief arguement for Cabrera and Sizemore? I am new to this site; however, not new to fantasy baseball. I am just looking for a good debate so i can come to a logical conclusion based on supported arguements. Thank you for your help Hootie! I posted before about having the 5th pick; but after a reshuffling of the draft order, I moved down a slot.
howard off the board? not unless theres a huge philly fan in the league. go cabrera or sizemore. id probably take mcab and target beltran on the way back. theres nothing wrong with tex. mcab is just likely to be better
Nothing is wrong with Tex. I just don't consider him a top 8 pick. Besides the big 4, add Cabrera, Sizemore, Braun, Hamilton.
Forget what Tex did in 193 AL abs last year. His 2nd half 35% hit rate % was the reason for that average. Look what he did in 2,500 AL abs in Texas, with huge home/road splits.
Career averages
Cabrera .309 Tex .290
Yankee stadium is a neutral park. Yea it favors LHB some, but it's terrible on RHB. What is Tex going to beat Cabrera in? Maybe runs, but not average, hrs, rbis.
Sizemore won't match Tex average, but the sb put him over him.

Once again, thank you! Ok, so now I agree that Cabrera would be the most solid pick at 6. If Sizemore, Braun, Hamilton, and Holliday are gone in Round 2...14 team league. Where should I turn? Manny (arguably the best RH hitter or all-time), Beltran(could show signs that he is past his prime this year), Carlos Lee(model of durability & consistency but is aging), Carlos Quentin(loads of power and potential - entering his prime at 26), Markakis(former 1st rounder living up to expectations and increasing his #s every year)? Thoughts ladies and gentleman? I would lean to Manny or Quentin and hopefully be able to get Markakis or Lee in Round 3.
