I think if you can pull Harrang its a deal you should do, and like the other guy said Scherzer would be suitable as well. I really like the dead if you can get Harrang though ;-D

You're not serious are you?

BJ earned $24 last year, with a bum shoulder zapping his power.

Why won't the Twins help his wins?

Twins were 4th in runs scored, got a great closer.
Baker was 14th in run support per 9.

Manny is not worth that much by any means.

I didn't realize the twins were that good, but I stand by assessment. B.J. Uptons career stats are not good (with the exception of SBs last year). Shane Victorino was a souped up B.J. Upton last year. We can give him excuses by talking about his shoulder, but the bottom line is that even if he is totally healthy, I would think you would get something a bit better than his 2007 season, which was pretty good, but not Manny level by any stretch. Liriano had a nice run at the end of last season, but its unclear if he's all the way back based on that limited sample. Upton and Liriano are potential, while Manny is production. However, this is why established NFL superstars get traded for second round picks. With my teams, if I can add proven production for potential, I'll do it every time. I admit its hard, cause I love to root for guys with potential. He's essentially trading a a 4th and a 7th round pick for a mid 2nd rounder, which is pretty good. I would still like it better if he could add another pitcher to the deal.

I would definitely NOT do this deal. I understand that you need power, but you are giving way too much. I would rather have Upton than Manny straight up, personally. And Liriano looks like he will be back to his stud status this season. Pass on this deal, and look to increase your power elsewhere.

You will change your tune.
Upton at age 24, has done more then Victorino at age 28.
Better career oba, slugging %. BJ was a regular at age 22. Victorino at age 26. Not even close.
BJ has 25-30 hr power. If you want to dismiss his shoulder sapping his power, i don't know what to say.
BJ will be a top 15 pick next year easy.
Victorino will be a 10 hr, 30 sb guy.
BJ earned $25 at age 22, $24 at age 23 injured.
I will take BJ over Manny in a keeper anytime. Throw in a near ace in Liriano, and you have a landslide deal.

I would go with this. You are giving up alot of value, but sometimes you have to give up alot of value to fill the weaknesses on your team.

It's not a keeper, so you only have to worry about this year and I think Harang can have a very solid bounce back year.

My suggestion though, may be to try shopping Upton elsewhere. I think that even in an 8 team league you can find someone to give you a big power bat, like a Fielder for Upton. I think I would rather see you do that and keep Liriano

Don't do it. Liriano may end up as the year's best pitcher, and Upton isn't a slouch offensively. Is it really worth it for just a power upgrade? Manny is getting up there in age and could get injured at some point this year. I'd stay away from this deal unless you can get pitching back.

Silly. Do not do the deal.

Upton has tremendous bat speed so his HR power will come just be patient. If he starts slow dont give up on him.
