I have a trade on the table sending my Nick Markakis and Placido Polanco for Brandon Phillips and Adam Jones. Should I pull the trigger?

I would take that trade. You have a few outfielders that could definitely bust out this year and Phillips will add around 20 HRs/20 steals to your team. Markakis is real solid but I'm not buying that he has 30 HR potential and Phillips has already done that. viewtopic.php?t=371089
No, I would focus on finding a buyer for Aaron Harang for a decent (maybe not Phillips status) 2B. Harang still looks shakey this year and last season none of his pitches he was throwing well. Time to let him go.
i wouldn't do that trade, its a very nice upgrade at 2B, but that then leaves your OF FULL of question marks and maybes... polanco is still gonna give you a nice average and throw in some runs and rbi, and i dunno if it weren't for position scarcity i would like markakis over phillips anyday, gives you the same if not more in SB and HR, more HR for markakis and a much much better average... id stand pat on this, you loose too much then what you make up...
I, too, do this. Phillips is a top 5 2B, and sure, you don't fully recoup Markakis with Jones, but you get enough. Polanco is such a hollow BA--even in a 14-teamer, I'd expect him to be a low, low option.
Markakis is great, but with his FB%, he's not a top power hitter, nor will he ever be, and the steals aren't money in the bank either.
I'd rather scramble for an OF FA if it were me later on than a 2B one, myself.
Four years ago, I drafted Polanco to be my everyday 2B, and that was the last time.
really not that bad for a 'low end option'... his lineup isn't built around a power 2B anyways, look at McCann, MiggCab, Longoria, hell and even Lowell... those are the power hitters, i would much rather have a dependable 2B who hits for a +.300 avg in that lineup just to boost every bat cat... not to mention there again keeping his OF in contact... you loose Markakis you loose your OF, i love bruce but i don't think hes a capable #1 OF option just yet, and Milledge, hell ive been hearing 'this is the breakout year' for how long now? so far hes showed hes a bust, Gomez is SB and only SB especially in that not so great minny team this year (plus his avg/obp are terrible for a speed guy) and yall think Jones is gonna be a good option to fill in for Markakis??? your crazy, look at the big picture here, not just one guy, yes you get one great option, but you in reality lose 2 options in your lineup to get him... not worth it in my eyes...
My opinion is you do it. Your getting one of the best players at a tough postion to fill with a grat player and getting a rookie who has high hope. EVEN if that doesnt pan out, Im sure there will be plenty of other OF's to pick from free agents. Cant say the same for 2b's.
