12 team 5x5 keeper
12 team H2H Dynasty
12 team points based H2H
10 team 5x5 redraft
i have another that is still being filled...could be between 8-14...if it's 8 we are doing AL only though

i havent ever played in a league higher than 12 (wouldnt mind someday), but as far as why people play in 12 and 10 team leagues, my guess is most of the people that play fantasy sports are casual fans and dont want the added complexity of knowing who every SP in the game is or who the 30th best 2B is...they just want to go out and play with players they know. also, i'm sure some people are limited by their circle of friends, co-workers, etc and dont want to play with strangers

For me it's all about the competition level. I feel comfortable playing in anything from a 10 team to a 18 team league.

For the last 5 years I've kept a 10 team redraft league going with some of my closest friends from high school. The majority of these guys are casual fantasy players. I know I'd have an advantage if we either brought in some more teams or increased the roster size, but I'm not looking to dominate. Keeping the league relatively small keeps things interesting for me. In a league this size everyone has good players so you're not going to be able to blow other teams out of the water.

Certainly 12+ team leagues are the way to go when everyone knows what they're doing. The only thing I'd never do is an 8 team league.
