What's your league size?

I ask because when I look all around fantasy circles, everyone seems to play in only 10 or 12 man leagues. I play in 2 leagues each year and they both have 18 teams. Which seems to be quite rare. I find that the 18 team league is hard to draft and is a great challenge to me. I can't sleep on my teams, I have to always be paying attention. Important to find good sleepers, you have to pay for saves with so many teams. Why do people choose the 12 team route over the more challenging 16 or 18 team leagues? Give your input on your league, size, why you play in a 12 teamer or why you play in a larger league like mine.

3 14 team leagues and 1 15 team league. 3 of the 4 of these are also 2catchers, MI/CI and 5 OF leagues as well. I'd say this is about my perfect size. Plenty deep enough (320-350 players deep) but not crazy where half of your team is a bunch of scrubs.

12 team leagues is the lowest I would play in.

My group has done a 12 team league for about 5 years now. We purposely bumped it to 14 this year b/c we wanted it to be more difficult. I'm looking forward to the draft in a week & a half.

dont u find drafting in a 10 team league to be extremely easy? having 10 picks in the first 100 is crazy to me.in an 18 teamer you get 6 picks in the first 100. makes the draft very important. there are still gems to be found on the WW, last year i ended up with cliff lee for instance. do you choose smaller size because it's standard? because you only can find 10 people to join the league? you feel like less teams is an easier challenge? im just curious.

12 team leagues is the lowest I would play in.

yeah we have some scrubs in our league, but i think thats the beauty of it. in real baseball every team has a guy or 2 on their team that really arent that great.

18Fantasy teams*5OF=90OF is the same as 30 MLB teams*3 OF=90 OF's

18 Fantasy teams*3 positions for SS,2B and MI=54 is about the same as 30MLB teams*2 postions SS and 2B= 60

i guess we just make our teams more realistic to actual baseball in terms of having to have a few spots where you might have to go cheap or have to have less talent.

Played in a 10 team league the last 2 years and it was boring. Too many good players and not enough teams. We changed our 12 team league to a 14 team league last year and that worked out well. I just drafted for an 18 team league for the first time and that was fun.

I like this mix of leagues. I enjoy deeper leagues since draft prep and general knowledge of more players goes a lot farther, but on the other hand a deeper baseball league can turn into a football league where you lose a top player or two due to injury and you have no shot because the WW is so thin, so I like the mix.
