Just finished an intense draft--how's my team?

Postby hellfire » Tue Mar 09, 2004 12:36 am

It's a 13-team roto league, 7x7 scoring categories (Hitting: R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, OBP, SLG; Pitching: ERA, WHIP, K, W, CG, SV, HLD)

C: J. Posada
1B: M. Sweeney
2B: J. Kent
3B: M. Ensberg
SS: O. Cabrera
OF: B. Bonds
OF: S. Green
OF: J. Drew
Util: Juan Gonzalez
Bench: A. Sanchez
Bench: S. Stewart

SP: C. Schilling
SP: R. Oswalt
SP: M. Morris
SP: J. Contreras
SP: B. Penny
SP: B. Myers
RP: A. Rhodes
RP: R. Nen
RP: C. Bradford
RP: M. Remlinger

I think I did pretty well. My outfield and 3B are relatively weak, and my relief pitching is suspect. But for a competitive 13-team league, I like my team.

Thoughts? Advice?

You need to find a way to get some speed on your team. You're going to finish 13th in SBs.

Speedy Sanchez

I suppose I could play Sanchez in the outfield periodically and rack up the steals. Only he hurts so much in every other category.

Ok, good team. Your crazy if you think your OF is weak. In a league that counts OBA your players rock (Drew is an injury concern but when playing he walks a ton). I'd replace Juan-Gone with Sanchez to get those steals.

Maybe you could flip Kent for Marcus Giles in order to get a few more steals.

Ya, your relief pitching needs some help. You should be able to find a couple decent holds guys.

Am I better?

Postby hellfire » Tue Mar 09, 2004 12:13 pm

Also, how do you guys think my team compare to this guy's (the two-time former winner of my league)? Throughout our draft, he kept snagging players I wanted in the round I planned to pick them (Giles, Teixera, Johnson, Phelps, Sheets).

C: Piazza
1B: Johnson
2B: Vidro
3B: Chavez
SS: Jeter
OF: Giles
OF: Dunn
OF: Bradley
Util: Teixeira
Bench: Phelps
Bench: Reyes

SP: Prior
SP: Santana
SP: Webb
SP: O. Perez
SP: Sheets
SP: Lackey
RP: Looper
RP: Kolb
RP: Riske
RP: Biddle

That looks like a very good team. You do need speed, though. I'd suggest letting Juan Gone and Drew start the season. If either of them gets off to a hot start, trade them for some speed and let that guy worry over injury risks.
