Should I keep Howard?

Postby MaudDib » Tue Mar 10, 2009 10:12 am

I need help with my 5th keeper. I am in a 12 team points league and I am already keeping Miggy, Rollins, Wright and Utley. Now I need to choose my last keeper and my options are Kemp, Howard, Granderson and McLouth. Here are some of my thoughts on each player.

Kemp has the potential to be a stud. It would be great to lock him up now but there is the potential of him being around with my pick at 8.

Howard will post the best numbers but with this being a points league his K's really hurt. Last year his numbers were huge but only averaged 2.8 PPG which in comparison Pujols had a 4.2 PPG.

Granderson looks like a 30/30 guy but I don't think he has the potential of Kemp and would be suprised if you think I should take him over Kemp. He did 3.1 PPG last year. Usually 3.2 PPG or above and you are looking at top 50 players.

McLouth had very good numbers and it looks like it wasn't a fluke. Only problem is there is no one hitting around him to help him out like there was last year. By the way he had 3.6 PPG last year.

Oh and by the way, WHIR as always.

MATT KEMP!!!!!!!!!!!!

poised for a breakout, and Manny is Back.. that means most likely they will bat Kemp 2. so that means they will want to move him into scoring position befor manny gets up at 4.. meaning more steals and more runs..

realistic Numbers for Kemp. .295 avg. 22HR 86 RBI 37 SB with the potential for more power.. you. want. that. guy.

that makes Kemp a 4 category contributer while howard is a 2 category contributer and he will murder your average.

Yea keep Kemp based on the previous posters' reasons. Howard seems like a bit of a dud in that point system even though I think his avg wont be as bad this year.

Yep, points league means you can happily keep Kemp.
