Tex or Utley who would you rather? WHIR

Postby shoelessjoetara » Mon Mar 09, 2009 5:44 pm

I am in a 14 team mixed roto league and I am beating myself up with this pick. I have asked if taking Tex with the 8th pick is a reach and I have gotten mixed results. I would definately take Miggy, Sizemore or Braun before Tex but I don't think they will be there since Arod is urt. I am now starting thinking that maybe Utley may be a better option. 2nd base is a shallow position and 1st base is deep. What do you guys think. I owe ya'll my life if you can help me with my dilemma. :-D If I couldn't get Miggy, Size or Braun who else is there?

For me with Utley's Hip problem I am going with Tex this year much safer option plus you can get Phillips later.

8th is a little high for Tex, but def too high for Utley...if those are the two guys you are deciding between, go with Tex

I hear what ya'll are saying but who do ya'll suggest I take with the 8th pick. I think the first 7 picks will be any order of

Hanley
Pujols
Wright
Reyes
Miggy
Sizemore
Braun

I could take any one of Howard, Hamilton, Utley, Rollins, or Tex. I would much rather have an OF that can help in all 5 categories and Hamilton doesn't burn the basepaths. Howard hurts in avg. Rollins is on the decline and Utley had surgery and could be an injury risk. I just think that if all of the first 7 picks are gone that Tex hitting in that lineup may push for a career year. I could always grab Beltran, Soriano or Manny in the 2nd and Kemp in the 3rd.

I would take any of those guys over Tex. I just think Tex is sooo overrated. Wait a round and grab Berkman or Morneau or Prince I say. Teix is an over-glorified Carlos Lee. In fact, unless your league counts BB or OBP, Carlos Lee is a more valuable player. Go with another pick. Utley + a waiver wire 2B for a month is definitely more valuable than Tex, IMO.

That lineup isn't any better then those huge Texas lineups he had. He's never hit in a park no suited for hitting. Can he handle NY?

I think Tex, Hamilton, Howard are close. I like Hamiton because i think he's the most talented one.
