ESPN, 14 team-roto with OBS and K/BB My friend said he would accept Garrett Atkins for Chone Figgins. My team really needs steals.
C Kurt Suzuki 1B Justin Morneau 2B Mark Ellis 3B David Wright SS Cristian Guzman OF Matt Holliday OF Carlos Quentin OF Curtis Granderson UTIL Ryan Ludwick
BN Adam Dunn BN Garrett Atkins BN Carlos Delgado
SP Brett Myers SP Justin Verlander SP Jered Weaver SP Gil Meche SP David Price RP Chris Perez RP Mike Gonzalez RP Joel Zumaya
No way. I would target someone besides Figgins. His legs are getting older and his SBs may be dropping. And, I would trade Delgado or Dunn for SBs, not Atkins.
if you are going to move atkins (i wouldnt...like above, move delgado or dunn), id look to get a better player than figgins, and id look for a 2B...roberts maybe? i know he doesnt steal as much as chone, but you know figgins is going to miss some time this year at some point, and he is trending down to me
I would definitely not do this. It's the classic Figgins trade. Figgins has made a fantasy baseball career out of people over paying for him and his steals.
You have enough talent where you can trade for someone better than Figgins. Dunn is sitting on your bench and he should have alot of value in a deep 14 team league. I would rather be targeting guys like Victorino or Hart or Pence than Figgins. You have some steals already in Wright, Granderson and Holliday, so that if you added a more well rounded player, it would make you mid-pack in steals but not hurt all your peripherals.
On a side note, my main concern for your team would be pitching though.
I'm going to play the other side just to torment you. That is, IF Figgins qualifies. In Yahoo, I know Figgins qualifies at 2B. If that's the case, I think I would do it. Atkins is on your bench anyway, and Figgins is a huge upgrade from Ellis, not to mention your SB need. All that to say, only if Figgins fits at 2B would I consider it.
I like the idea, but I'm sure you could get more out of the other guy. See if you can snag an extra speedy OF or something like that. Atkins has some serious value, whereas I think Figgins is overvalued (every year, it seems). And I agree with the other comments about packaging one of the big boppers.
