picks 12 and 13, WHIR

Postby Eightan » Mon Mar 09, 2009 1:44 pm

Non Keeper, 7x7 roto scoring, weekly changes-
Hitting cats.=R,HR,RBI,SB,Avg,BB,K
Pitching cats.= IP,SV,ERA,K,W,L,WHIP

I have picks 12 and 13 in a 12 team draft. I was thinking of taking a combo of the best 1B available (Tex, Howard if available, Berkman), and then a speed/power outfielder (Braun, if available, Beltran, Soriano).

However, I realized that A-Rod might fall down to me because of teh surgery and nagging injury risk. Is he worth taking if he's there? And if so, who would be my next pick?

WHIR and thanks for any input!

Personally I would go a different route. I think that is too early to draft A-Rod, since he will miss 4-6 week of the regular season. If you can get Braun and Tex with those picks, then I would do that. I think that you should also look at players like Kinsler, J-Roll or Utley.

Help with my keepers

I specifically avoid drafting the top ranked middle infielders in the first 2 rounds. I prefer to anchor my outfield and get a big power bat, usually a first baseman.

Thanks for the advice on A-Rod though.

I'm grabbing both Utley and Rollins at #11 and #14 if I can. I just don't think any OF will be that much better than anyone I can get later on. Braun will be gone for sure. Holliday is a question mark with new league..No way I'm taking Hamilton that high either.

Thats the same problem I have. I have the 8th pick in my draft and I am looking at who to draft if Miggy, Sizemore or Braun are gone by that time. I think they will be gone so I am faced with picking someone like Tex, Utley, Rollins or Howard in the infield or Hamilton or Holliday in the OF. Rollins is on the decline, Utley just had surgery and will be back, Howard hurts in AVG so I am liking Tex if my top 3 are gone. Holliday will not be as good in a new league and Hamilton is still an unknown to me. Another year and I will believe. I am shooting for Tex and Beltran, Soriano or Manny and I will be happy. Some people think it may be a stretch but....
