Another A-Rod trade dilemma

Postby GHirsch516 » Mon Mar 09, 2009 12:32 pm

I have the opportunity to get A-Rod given all thats gone on with him in my 12 man CBS keeper league. We have 8 keepers. The asking price is Berkman and a 3rd round pick for A-Rod. Id like to get some recent opinions on A-Rod and this trade. With the amount of time hes going to lose and the possibility of him getting injured or shutdown early do you think this is a valid trade? Any advice is appreciated.

Ive also been offered Ellsbury, a #1 pick and Morrow (who I could slot in my 9th keeper franchise slot) for Berkman

My current keepers are" Pujols, Berkman, Phillips, Dunn, Ludwick, Billingsley, Kazmir, KRod

Thanks in advance

I would probably consider rolling the dice on that one. Maybe try to switch out the 3rd round with a later round pick of yours.

The latest is that he may be back at the middle to end of May and that there is a 85-90% shot of him making it until the end of the season.

The reason why I like this for you is that this is a keeper league and your keepers seem to be a little on the light side. Additionally, Berkman is not getting any younger and his value in a keeper is dropping.

Even if A-Rod is mediocre this year, you can look towards next year, after he has the full surgery, of going into the season with Pujols and A-Rod as your 1-2. Beastly!

Given that the #3 pick after 8 keepers is = to a 10th/11th, I'd make the deal for ARod. ;-D

AROD could be back as early as the end of April (expected out 6-9 weeks but doctors think that it should be closer to 6 weeks). Go and get him

I'm in a similar delimma with ARod, only I have him as a keeper and am trying to figure out what to do. Given that 3B is actually a really shallow position and that you can probably find a more than acceptable substitute at 1B off the waiver wire, I'd probably do the deal. I would just try to play up the uncertainty and see if you can give him a later pick.
