Does anyone else get bad allergies? I get them every spring and fall but never been to the doctor for them. I usually pop a couple of Benedryl at night and Allervert/Claritin during the day. I just signed up at www.pollen.com also so I can prepare myself on meds before it hits me.
Any other recommendations?

I used to get them really bad but 5 years of allergy shots has made them much better. So now I only really get a stuffed up head. If they bother you that much you should really go the doctor and get tested. Knowing what you are exactly allergic to helps you know what to avoid and could help out alot.
I just started getting bad allergies within the past few years, and I'm probably going to do what Pogo suggested and head to an allergist to get tested this year. I'm either loopy on meds or feel like I have a severe cold, neither of which is a good option.
One trick I have learned is that after I cut the grass or I'm out in the woods I take a shower first thing I get home. The longer I'm exposed the worse it is plus if you head right for the shower you aren't spreading it around the house.
I get them pretty bad, but alergy meds usually make me feel as bad as the allergies themselves, so I stay away from them for the most part. I did find something that worked last year, but now I forget what it was. It was something that required a prescription, though. I've also found that by eating local honey and bee polen, my allergies have not been as bad in recent years.
I use to get them horribly bad for 3-4 years, it was to the point that my eyes watered just being outside for more than 5-10 minutes. And because of my heart problems I can't take just anything. But since I stay indoors when people are mowing the grass, and I dont live near a lot of trees it's not as bad as it use to be

I have a fear of needles so shots are probably out of question.
Saturday was horrible as I was pretty much miserable all morning with stuffed nose and sneezing. Took Allervert which didn't work and had to take Benedryl which knocked me out for a couple of hours.

If they are that bad in the house I'd say keep all the windows closed and get an air purifier that hooks up the the central air. You can get smaller purifiers but they only really work if you are standing right next to them. I used to have one on my nightstand so I could sleep. A higher quality furance filter might be worth it too. Also no fans, they just stir up everthing.
i seem to get really bad Sinus Headaches about twice a year, presumably from allergies. i've also had no luck with the allergy meds, so if it gets real bad i go to the doc and demand some anti-biotics...for whatever reason that seems to work for me...maybe it's psychological...hopefully i can shake it this season

I hate to tell you this but you might as well start trying to get over that fear right now. The older you get the more likely you are to need to get shots and have blood drawn, it's just part of getting old dude.
