12 TEAMER H2H, How did I do?

Postby Aggie_Eric98 » Mon Mar 09, 2009 9:22 am

First year of a keeper league. At the end of the season we will be able to keep any five guys so I took a chance on a few young kids.
Where should I try and improve (OF/Util). Thinking about trading one of my closers for a bat. Thoughts?

3B Aramis Ramírez
SS Mike Aviles
OF Carlos Beltrán
OF Álex Ríos

BN Jed Lowrie

Pitching

SP Jake Peavy
SP Scott Kazmir
RP Brian Fuentes
RP Brad Ziegler

P Roy Corcoran
P Brandon Lyon
BN Erik Bedard
BN Koji Uehara
BN Chris Carpenter

Your hitting is solid ( I really like Aviles and Maybin) and your pitching is well anchored with Peavy ans Kazmir. You do need to stay active with your closers though as they could change as the season goes on.

this is an alright team- i think you need to worry about your avg- besides pujols average might drop alot. Kaz and peavy are a nice 1 2 punch but you don't have much depth behind them. i agree with the statement about the closers keep a close eye on these guys and the rest of spring training because they won't be worthy of a spot if they don't close. I realize you want to keep an eye on the young guys but i don't think lowrie will help this year or next. I'm also not a big fan of ujhera(spelling) or guthrie i would look to drop them and see if some better SP are available like pelfrey, maine, ubaldo jimenez types like that

Thanks for the help on mine.

Your hitting looks nice and solid. If pressed to criticize, I'd imagine there is someone on waivers that can put up better numbers than Ankiel.

Your starters look solid with good upside. The closers seem a little risky as some may not have a closing role in a month. Id be keeping an eye on the waiver wire to add some depth in this area as the AAA guys are up vieing for starting spots right now.

i like your bats. the only problems i see comes with pitching. i'm not a fan of either Roy Corcoran
or Brandon Lyon. it would be nice to add a more established closer. i would def. be shopping around for a more solid #3 pitcher also. hopefully, bedard will fill that role - i'd like to have insurance on that.

Corcoran and Lyon were very late picks in the hopes I could flip them.

Corcoran #21st round pick 243
Lyon #23rd round pick 267

I just realized I drafted the entire AL West closers :-D

I like that you didn't risk everything on a bunch of young players...to many people try doing that their first or second time in a keeper league. If anything, I would advise you strengthen the back part your SP rotation. Also, good job drafting a balanced team between offense and pitching.
