Interesting trade. You're likely taking a bit of a hit this year, but long term this could really pay dividends.
For this year: Utley>Pedroia Rollins>Longoria Webb>Beckett Ludwick<Kemp Cruz<Drew
You gave up the two best players in this deal (Utley and Rollins) but I'd say both Longoria and Pedroia have more value than Webb -- so you got the two next best. I think this is a very even trade. You certainly didn't hurt yourself much this year by doing it, and in the future it could look like a great trade.

Not a fan of this at all.
I agree, not only was the trade next to pointless and clearly a trade for the sake of a trade, you got taken to boot. Longoria is also at risk for a sophomore slump, even if he repeats though you didn't do well here.
It's not a trade that I would make - I mean you could argue here and there that you break even outside of pitching overall, but Beckett is too risky and Webb is certainly much better. Basically, I really wouldn't enjoy giving up Utley, Rollins, and Webb with that kind of return.
I'm not a fan of Beckett at all, he gets hurt waaaay too much for my liking. His reputation is made on the season we don't play FBB for.
Long term, I like. You trade talent now, for projected talent in a year or two at most. Some folks aren't high on Drew, but I live in Colorado, and went to all but 1 Col/Ari game, and I can tell you I liked what I saw. He's not going to make it to the Reyes/Hanley/Rollins level, but he'll be the top of the next tier, if not in 2009, then for sure in 2010.
Thanks for the help on mine!
It's only cheating on your favorite team if you get caught...Like the '07 Series.
I am not a fan of Ludwick or Cruz at all for this year so big picture i think you win the deal (in a 14 team league the difference in every part of the trade goes to you slightly IMO)
but can see why people dont like it the big components going to the other team are tough to lose
What was the impetus for this trade though? While I am giving the "nod" to you i do get that sense of "why do this?" just curious..I think if you moved a rollins or utley in a deal you could get a nice return without doing a 10 player deal
Sorry but I have to agree, I do not like this trade either. I am not a big Fan of Beckett at all so that just soured me even further. Your best hope is that Kemp develops even further this year.
To me when you start doing these huge blockbuster trades which include all stars and 1st and 2nd round picks, the team that gives up the big names usually looses, because they seem to get devalued in the mix.
