E. Santana's injury and his keeper status

Postby ThatDude » Sun Mar 08, 2009 10:46 pm

I'm not entirely sure I want to keep Ervin now that these elbow issues have cropped up.

12 teams, 5x5.

C -
1B - Prince
2B - Utley
SS -
3B - Chipper
LF - Manny
CF -
RF - Abreu
UTIL - Kinsler
UTIL -

SP - Haren
SP - Gallardo
RP - Valverde
RP -
P -
P -
P -
P -

If I'm not keeping E.Santana, the choices are the following.

Zimmerman - Certainly not a bad idea to have another 3B with Chipper around, and there's another UTIL spot to fill.
Wood - Closers are VERY highly thought of in this league, not because of the scoring, just because of the people in the league.
Kershaw - I like the kid.

I might be able to get Kershaw back in the draft, but I can't see any way I would get Zimmerman or Wood back.

So...do I keep Santana despite the injury, or go with one of the others?
Sometimes it takes a crazy person to see the truth. If so, I'm a freaking lunatic.

The Angles don't seem terribly concerned about Santana's injury, so I don't think you need to be either. But if you're at all worried about it, just go with Kershaw as your last keeper. The two have similar value in keeper leagues right now...Kershaw just has a ridiculous amount of upside.

I think I would go Zimmerman or Kershaw over Ervin as of today

Poor guy drafted Ervin in the 5th round of a 10 teamer yesterday.. :-L

I'm somewhat concerned as well. I have Ervin @ $1.00 in a $26 cap, 10 team league. My other keeper pitchers are Bills, Lee, Greinke, Liriano. I can keep him if he starts on the DL, I'll just have to pick someone up when the season starts. Not sure if I should just throw him back now and spend the $1.00 elsewhere or what. Cafe, HELP.........!!!!!!
