I have #1 pick in a 10x10 H2H league and I'm going with Pujols based on these hitting stats Avg,Hrs,Rbis,Sbs,Runs, walks,Ks,OBP,xtra base hits, hits -sbs are just one category out of 10 and Pujols is just so elite in the other 9
I think HanRam is the clear #1. The Cardinals still don't have a great lineup so Pujols R/RBI will still be lower than in the past. Pujols will still probably miss a few extra games with his various issues just like he has in 2 of the past 3 years now. He isn't likely to steal much more than 6-7 bases. He also isn't likely to repeat that AVG since it was more BABIP driven(not that I don't want his normal .330ish!).
There is also always at least a minor concern after any surgery. It isn't a big enough risk to drop Pujols out of the #2 spot but it is enough to keep me taking Hanley with the #1. Keep in mind that he still has the foot problems regardless of fixing the elbow. I'll pay for a repeat of last year with a little less average and to me that doesn't match what Hanley is likely to give me.
The move to 3rd in the lineup seals it. Basically the numbers everyone was predicting, minus 10 runs, plus 35-40 RBI.
.315/35/110/115/35 from SS is simply ridiculous. And that's a slightly optimistic projection. He has true 40/40 potential with a very high AVG and batting 3rd in a pretty good offensive lineup. FROM SS! In the end he could just end up posting Pujols-level numbers plus 25-35 SB.
Rocinante2: you know Rocinante2: its easy to dismiss the orioles as a bad team ofanrex: go on Rocinante2: i'm done Rocinante2: lmao
I didn't reconsider taking A-Rod, let alone Pujols, over Hanley with my #1 pick in one of my drafts and I wouldn't here either. Hitting in the three-hole if he sticks there should catapult Hanley's value even though I'd say he's more of a 35/25 man than a 30/30 man. Personally, I don't see him hitting over .310 if his K rate from last year holds, but obviously he has the best power/speed/average upside of the lot. Can't go wrong with either Hanley or Pujols, but Hanley does a bit of everything from a narrower position.
