Pointless. The only advantage I can see K-Rod having is in the number of saves he'll have over Soria, but his ratios were on a slide last year due to minor injuries and a dropoff in velocity. I don't see Soria saving 40 and even if there's a bit of a regression there, I don't see anything troubling with his peripherals to suggest he'll drop off some.

dodger pretty much summed it up perfectly...soria will give you better peripherals, with fewer saves, krod will have more saves with slightly worse peripherals

id stick with soria since not only is it a pointless deal, but he has no one to take cheap saves away (krod has putz) and is less of an injury risk

There is no proof that Krod will get more saves. I've said it before. Close games dictate save chances. Might as well spin a roulette wheel.

Soria is the better pitcher. Don't get caught up in the hype poor Soria won't get any chances.

No sense making this trade at all. Keep Soria, there is no benefit in taking K-Rod instead.

I agree 100% that Soria is a better pitcher, in fact he's quite possibly the best closer in the MLB as far as actual talent goes. I think the Royals are going to step it up this season a bit. They won't contend but they could be a .500 team this year. K-Rod obscene save totals from last season likely won't be repeated (even if he was still in Anaheim). I'll take a great closer on a medi-ocre team any day. Obviously the other owner has the same opinion, why else would he make the offer?
