I think he'll put up around the exact same stats as last year. He's overrated in the sense that I think Carl Crawford will have a better season than Pierre and can be drafted about 5 rounds later. Or maybe Crawford is just underrated.

That'd depend on the relative value of steals in your league. There was only one dude who swiped 65 last year and a bunch of guys who hit 30 homers. If you have him, you are just about guaranteed to win that particular category all year.

I could trade for J. Edmonds... potentially giving more HRs... I think I could afford to give up Pierre.

That's an intriguing possibility. Edmonds tore it up during the first part of last year. I remember one guy (admittedly a Cards fan...) who said 'there are two top outfielders, Edmonds and Sheffield' at one point before Edmonds went down the tubes. .303 pre allstar, w/ 28 homers and 11 HR and .214 after.

Of course, Edmonds would also be particularly valuable if you have 'hotdog catches' as a category!!

trade pierre for edmonds?? you can get much better. Edmonds is on the way down. Find the owner who overvalues steals and then make the trade.

I think you're getting a steal if you can get Edmonds for Pierre. Pierre's value decreased a bit after Florida hired Jack McKeon and his disdain for stealing bases.

In the last two months of 2003's season, pierre had a total of 13 steals. He was averaging 14 steals a month for the pervious three months. That's a 50% drop in rate of steals.

I'm not suggesting Pierre is only going to have 33 steals (half of what he had in '03) this year, I'm not psychic. Unfortunately, after I checked out his split stats, I had to move Pierre way down in my draft sheets.

I'd say trade Pierre if you can. ;-D

I checked out C. Lee and P. Wilson... Wilson didn't finish strong after the All-Star break but Lee did. And I've noticed Wilson going higher in the drafts than Lee.

Wilson was injured late in the season and that caused his numbers to drop. Carlos Lee exceeded almost everybody's expectation last year and the general consensus is there's going to some pullback in his stats this year.
