Deep league...which pitcher? WHIR

Postby NittanyLions1 » Sat Mar 07, 2009 9:10 pm

Head-to-head points league. Its my last pick on a 14 man staff. We have a minors (2 roster spots)/waivers draft after this main draft where I will probably try and draft 2 pitchers for my minors slots but a few minors pitchers have already been drafted (Carrasco, Hughes, Niemann?, Buccholz, Cahill, Hansen). I was considering drafting one of the guys below before this waivers draft because the pitchers left are crap...except for a few good middle relievers. Which one would you grab and thoughts on when they get the call/come off the DL are appreciated! THANKS and WHIR

Escobar
Cecil
McGowan
Holland
Feliz
Bailey
Adenhart
Porcello
J Zimmerman (may start in majors but is he worth it?)
Niese
F Morales (probably not now but maybe in the minors draft just in case he figures things out)
Y Petit (Does he have a shot to start with Scherzer and Davis hurting?)
ANYONE ELSE???

Out of those listed , I would try Bailey or Zimmerman. They're both looking good this spring and could end up being in the rotation. I've also read good things about Cecil. I would pick one of these 3 . It's a crapshoot . If I had to pick one , I think I would go with Bailey.

Has Tommy Hansen (Atl) been taken yet? If not, get him.

Otherwise, I'd roll the dice on Escobar before all of the other names you threw out there.

Oops, yeah Hansen went...I forgot him somehow so I edited my original post. Escobar is on my short list as I read he looks to maybe make it back in May...probably along with the three listed above for now (Zimm, Bailey and Cecil)

If you're looking at MLB ready, Escobar and McGowan are good risks if they will be ready in Apr/May. If you're loooking for Minor league talent...Feliz, Holland, Anderson and Bowden. If you get to keep the minor leaguer, Porcello is supposed to be light out but not ready until '10
