Who to draft??? WHIR

Postby bradlee » Sat Mar 07, 2009 7:37 pm

I am in a 14 team keeper league. We use the standard 5x5 but include OPS and Quality Starts

We keep three players in the round they were drafted.

So far I have Bruce (22), McLouth (20), and Lincecum (7).

SO....I got the 5th pick in the draft, which may be the worst pick based on who is left.

So far taken was Utley, M. Cabrera, and Rollins. There is 1 pick before me and I have narrowed the choices to these guys:

Sabathia
Holliday
Manny Ramirez
BJ Upton
Beltran
Crawford
Carlos Lee
Pedroia

So who would take 1st and 2nd off of this list ?????!!!!

i also like beltran and lee, but there is a stipulation with that...who was kept for 2B?? if the top guys (kinsler, utley, and ill toss in phillips) have all been kept, im tempted to take pedroia...im not as high on him as a lot of people are this year (and im a red sox fan...im just speaking strictly for fantasy purposes), but he might be worth a look if the other guys are kept...if not, im going with beltran then lee

I agree with Beltran or Lee. You have one OF who is real young, and another who had only 1 good year. A solid veteran fits in nicely here.

Since it's a keeper league, Upton is hard to pass on. Then maybe Crawfor or Lee.

I am not sure what round you are in but If you are thinking about possibly keeping one of these players again for next year at the current draft round which i don't know, I would have to say upton good player with possible keeper value at the draft pick and holliday, if he puts up great numbers at oakland he will have number one draft pick plus he will be on a different team. The safe pick would be beltran good #'s good team well established

please help

Thanks for your input with mine.

I'd take Beltran if it's a non-keeper situation, otherwise I'd pick Upton.

Yeah, definitely Upton and Beltran. I would consider Pedroia though as well. He was the MVP in the AL last year for a reason, I think his numbers are going to go up just a little more this year (that and I'm a Red Sox fan and a HUGE fan of how he plays the game...LOL!! :-b). I would probably take him and make him a keeper for next year myself. One of the few 2B that helps in all catagories. Just my two cents though.
