33/115/110 r/.310/15 SB
15/65/115 r/.295/60 SB
I'd say assuming Manuel doesn't do anything crazy with the lineups, that both of those are conservative projections....
At the end of the day, I would just much rather have the HR/RBI in round 1 and get speed later...you can get a poor man's reyes later in the draft who doesn't sacrifice much in the way of batting average or runs....
If you pass on that power, you have to make it up and the lower end power guys will not hit for average and will score less runs than the lower end speed guys...
In head to head, this shouldn't even be a question...in roto...I'll still take Wright. Call me crazy but I like the lower end SS options better than the lower end 3B guys...if you don't get one of the top 5 3B, it's reach-city...Atkins??? BRUTAL. Youkilis?? Horrible value pick this year....Chipper? Good luck. If you don't get one of the top 3 SS, who really cares? Since there's only 3...you're all essentially in the same boat...
Why don't they just get a house that's already painted?

I prefer Wright personally.

I take Wright over Reyes for the same reasons people mention here... You can get a cheap SS late like everyone else, and SB can be found late as well. On that note, do you even consider taking M Cabrera over Reyes? Or is it just my 9x9 league with stats like OPS clouding my judgement?

I would take Wright for sure, but didn't he stop running when Manuel took over?

I'd take Wright for the 5 cat contribution.
Perhaps the safest top 5 pick you could make IMO. ARod is already a huge ? and Pujols is a stud coming off surgery who has played thru everything in the past - but the red flags are beginning to rise just a tad. Doesn't want to play thru the pain he has played thru previously and the prior studliness may be catching up to him. I'd take Hanley first - but that line-up isn't fearsome and hitting 3rd I think mutes his offensive game a bit.
I see the argument for Reyes, though. He could potentially crush in steals and runs, with a .300 AVG he can contribute large in 2-3 categories with an acceptable tradeoff in RBI's.
It is difficult to evaluate such different players sometimes - so I often look to simplify things for a quick and dirty evaluation.
I'll make R+RBI a category and HR+SB a category as a comparison tool. These cats are often inversely correlated. 50 SB guys might get less than 3 HR's. 50 HR guys guys usually can't steal a base on the back end of a double steal. A 25/25 guy can do a little of each but won't dominate any category.
Sometimes you need to simplify the comparison. Is the trade-off of one category worth the loss at the other?
In that case Reyes wins the HR+SB cat and Wright wins the R+RBI cat and also the deciding AVG. category. Reyes is elite with his HR+SB stat - but his AVG is about 20 points lower and the lack of RBI's really does hurt more than his runs will help.
