As a Mark Teixeira owner, I was looking forward to him being protected in the line-up by A-Rod (even though I'm not exactly fond of the guy). But now that A-Rod will be out for several weeks and may be compromised all year long or possibly out for the year at some point, I think it might drag down Tex's production by a noticeable amount.
The rest of the Yankees' line-up is either getting fairly old and more likely to be bitten by injury bug (Damon, Matsui, Posada, Jeter) or they're kind of slightly above-average (Nady, Cano) or flat-out mediocre (Melky).
Does anyone else see that this is going to bring Tex's expected numbers down a bit, or do you think in the end it will have no effect? I had him pegged for 35 HR, 120 RBI, 100+ R, and a .300 BA but now I'd be inclined to drop it down to 30-100-90-.285 to .290.
Maybe I'm overthinking this, but to me it seems like his potential to have a monster year may be diminished by A-Rod's injury.
