First initial + first syllable of last name is the universally accepted standard for nicknames. See "ARam", "JLo", "K-Fed", "AGon". They almost didn't let ARod in the club. "K-Rod" stands alone as the coolest nickname because you'll note the letter "K" doesn't actually appear in his first name. His name is just synonymous with strikeout.
