Arod to miss 10 weeks

Postby The Kavorka » Thu Mar 05, 2009 12:01 pm

ESPNDeportes is rteporting that he'll have surgery to remove a cyst from his hip and he'll be out 10 weeks.

Not sure of the reliability of ESPNDeportes though.
What are you guys doing?

Tim Dierkes said it should make Arod a late first rounder, early second rounder. But for that value to make sense, you'd have to draft a Melvin Mora/Mike Lowell type to fill in for Arod until he comes back and settles his swing.
Personally, I'll only grab him if he falls to late 2nd round, but I have a feeling he won't tumble that far.
Not sure how much it'd affect Tex, he's still surrounded by a boat load of bats.

I'm wondering in a H2H league if he should go in the top 2 rounds. If he isn't right for 6-8 weeks into the season and you get him in the 1st or early second aren't you in a serious hole. If your team goes out and gets beat up because AROD isn't in I am wondering if that will kill the season soon after it begins. Or am I over analyzing it because there is so much season left after that and he probably will put up top 5 numbers from then on?

Fox Sports said he's going to skip the WBC and rest it accordingly in ST. He's going to try and play thru it somewhat but I think ultimately he will end up having the surgery. This could be a lost season for anyone who's had A-Rod as one of their annual keepers. :-S Luckily I'm not one of them. :-D

Here's a link to the Yankees fan boards to see what their reaction is. Check it out for a good read.
