Rank these Players (last round of a deep draft)

Postby FiveToolStud » Wed Mar 04, 2009 9:44 pm

It's my final pick in an 8 round prospect draft. There's not much available but there are a few good Minor League/College player options still left.

Wilmer Flores
Matt Dominguez
Ben Revere
Aaron Poreda
Kyle Gibson (College)
Adrian Cardinas
Brett Lawrie
Michael Main
Andrew Oliver (College)
Kendal Voz (College)
Mike Minor (College)

I tend to go with talent closest to the big leagues and i know that would be Poreda but he may be destined to go to the pen and wouldnt have a ton of value in that event. With that said im looking to get some opinions on how to rank these players.

Thanks.

I'd probably go with Dominguez here.

If thats the case, I'd go with the player at the position that could help you most now or soon.

Flores is far away and blocked so he's...out
Dominguez has surprised everyone, not me though, but he's climbing quickly, Sept '10 callup at earliest...out
Revere is pretty polished but the Twins have better/similar players already...out
Poreda should be very close you said, I think he sticks as a starter...in
Cardenas is the best 2B prospect in baseball but blocked by Ellis and rivaled by Weeks and Patterson...out
Lawrie moved to 2B from C, might be next Biggio with more power less speed but far away...out
Main is very much over shadowed by Feliz and Holland...out
Oliver and all college players have yet to sign so you never know but he's got the fastball you want and ahead of the other college players...maybe

So, i think Poreda is the pick unless you wanna gamble on Oliver though Dominguez is getting Zimmerman/Rolen comparisons.

Aaron Poreda might be closest to making the majors.
