teix for longoria?

Postby jsch6178 » Tue Mar 03, 2009 5:39 pm

keeper league. miguel cabrera loses his 3B eligibility in my league after this year, so either pujols, cabrera, or teixeira will be on my bench next season unless i make a deal.

Longoria's numbers are similar to Teix's in the minors so I think they could develop similarly and Longoria plays a harder position to fill, plus has more steal potential. I know this year I will likely get more out of Teix, but would you consider this move or am I getting ripped off?

if you have cabrera and pujols already, i would do this trade. although you would be losing a bit of value, you don't need 3 stud 1st basemen on your roster, ESPECIALLY if one has to be delegated to the bench. i would try to obtain david wright for teix or cabrera (more likely) if possible instead of longoria.

the guy who owns wright has a man-crush on him...no chance he's moving.

i'd try to go as far as moving pujols for wright or rodriguez if that was an option. if that failed then go with this deal, though i'd personally rather have tex than cabrera. better park, better lineup.

pujols is better than wright and equal to arod while being younger so im not looking to trade him..i'd be open to trading cabrera. my thinking is, he's still got room to get better, while teix is pretty much set on 32 homers and 110 rbis for the next 5 years.

I think getting Longoria and giving Tex, especially in a keeper league is a solid deal. If you look at Longoria last year, and project him to 600 AB's, he's 30 HR's, 110 RBI's and 90 runs. And that's in his second year in the majors. He just gets better from there.

I personally believe he has the talent for a few .290/40HR/120RBI/95R seasons pretty quick.

I make the deal.

pujols is really good, but unless he starts stealing more bases, wright makes up pujols advantage in avg with his 30 steals a year. but i understand your position.

i would hold on this. it's not going to help you this year. i agree it might be good in the long term, but i think tex has a big year and longoria has a nice, but slightly disappointing year considering the hype. you should be able to get the same deal at the end of the year, so why do it now? and maybe waiting will open up some new avenues for you.

You think Longoria has a nice, dissapointing year....He should get 100 more ab's and i at LEAST expect him to put up the same numbers as last year.....Here is what i expect from Evan: .280 33 110 12 90 runs... IMO Longoria is a high 2nd rd pick right now in any draft format..

Fully agree. He hit 27 HR's with 85 RBI's in 450 AB's.

You give him a full season, plus the protection he's got in that lineup, 30/110 is an easy number to hit.
