this is the second trade made to me that I accepted that was veto'd by the league... yeah, normal reaction is to get p'd off when any trade of yours is veto'd, but after looking at the trades I am wondering if I am in a league of "those" types of managers that veto anything if it doesn't involve them... so here is the lastest offer, I didn't for one second expect this offer to get the axe but it did and I would like others' feedback before I make my decision to stay in this league and if it is worth the effort - there 2008 numbers are listed)
I give up - Alex Rios ( 91R's 15HR's 79RBI's 32SB's .291BA) , Ryan Ludwick (104 37 113 4 .299) and Adrian Beltre (74 25 77 8 .266)
I get - Aramis Ramirez (97 27 111 2 .289), Magglio Ordonez (72 21 103 1 .317) and Chris Young (102.IP 7W's 93K's 3.96ERA 1.29WHIP)
In terms of straight-up value (not factoring in position scarcity or anything else) here is how I view it:
Rios=Ramirez Ludwick=Ordonez Beltre<Young
Rios' ceiling is unlimited and Ordonez has injury risk attached. Ludwick could easily have a similar campaign this year as well. I'd definitely be questioning the commish of your league/whoevers vetoing and/or leave the league entirely.
Regardless of who "wins" or "loses" the trade - there is obviously no collusion or hint that this trade was made to better one team while making the other team any less competitive.
Honestly, sounds like the managers in this league are "last year" guys...meaning, they see names and they see things guys have done in the past and that's how they value them.
trade is perfectly fair, perfectly even and nowhere close to vetoable. it never ceases to amaze me how many people think vetoes are in place to either A) protect owners from their own stupidity or B) act as a "vote" on whether or not ppl like the trade. if your league consistently vetoes trades like this then I'm afraid it's time to find a new league.
Not too late to change leagues. Send out an email to your league telling them why and find a league that suits your needs. You'll thank yourself later in the year when you HAVE to make a deal.
I veto your whole league, man. I VETO THEM ALL!!!!
I don't know what that means exactly, I'm in a bit of a strange mood. Bottom line is 90% of public leagues suck bung hole (can I say a** here... IDK). If none of your real life friends are in to fantasy sports, it's best to meet "fantasy friends" on forums like this and just do leagues with them. It makes the leagues more enjoyable when you have some sort of familiarity with your league mates, and there's also no cheating because no one wants to be called out for it on a public forum. FYI, there is a classified section here with leagues that need owners. The leagues I personally run are all 20 teamers with extremely deep rosters. I have a couple of my own public leagues filling (I do a few every season just for kicks) if you want in, all my private leagues are full sorry.
