Too many studs - who do I let go of? WHIR

Postby Kitaro » Mon Mar 02, 2009 6:55 pm

10 team H2H keeper (keep any 8) 6x6 (adds OPS and pitching losses) daily changes with 22 man roster

C:
1B: Fielder
2B: Utley
SS: H. Ramirez
3B: Wright
3 OF: Quentin Bay
2 UT: Kinsler

SP Halladay
RP Papelbon

That's my top 9 guys. (I left off Liriano, Harden, Joba and Sheets of course) Unable to work a trade, I must leave somebody behind. While Kinsler duplicates 2B, his position scarcity raises his value.

Who and why?

I would keep Liriano and Harden. Liriano looked great in his last 7 starts last year and should be a year stronger this year and will be the Twins ace. Harden showed that when healthy what he can do and what he can do is be a total stud. Both should put up nice stats this year.

please help

originally posted holds, have corrected to pitching losses.

Nice idea to keep Liriano and Harden, but that would be 11 keepers unless you are removing 3 others.

I would drop Papelbon. I don't really like getting a closer within the first 8 rounds of my draft anyways so I personally would not keep papelbon. Your batting is pretty set with the guys you are keeping so you can address pitching when you redraft.

I would keep Liriano, and drop Bay and Papelbon.

While closers aren't a dime a dozen, they also aren't super-required. You can get some decent save numbers in later rounds, and they tend to pop up during the season.

But with Liriano, even if he only gets to be 90% of his 2006 status, that's still gonna be REAL good.

I'd say no to Harden, mainly because you said you haven't been able to work out a deal with this crew, and if I have Haren, he gets moved at the start of July, NQA.

Help out?

It's only cheating on your favorite team if you get caught... Like the '07 Series.

I'm not so sure I agree with what others have said. Personally, I think I'd consider dropping Fielder if only because you can probably get a good 1B in the draft. Do you know who will likely be available at that point? That said, I've played in for years in a league that starts 5 OF so perhaps I overvalue a guy like Bay. Like others have suggested, I would probably drop Papelbon for Liriano as well.

Please help with mine...
