Quick facts about my league. It is a 12 team MLB keeper league with C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, LF, CF, RF, DH and SP, SP, SP, SP, P, RP, RP
As a keeper league it is 12/57 every year which menas you can keep someone selected the previous year in the 1st and 2nd rounds and then the 5th and 7th or later. If you want to keep a 3rd rounder you have to keep him in your 1st or 2nd slot and lose whoever was there from the year before.
So this year my keepers are David Wright 1st round, Alfonso Soriano 2nd, CC Sabathia 5th and Kevin Youkilis 7th (I picked him up on the FA so I can keep him in the 7 hole).
I have third pick this year, and becasue you have to jettison your 3rd and 4th round picks, there are some great options for me. it looks like at pick number 51 (the 3rd pick after keepers) I will get to choose between Rollins, Holliday and Johan Santana. Problem is the only one I am excited about is Rollins. I never take pitching early and only kept CC as i had no other decent keepers... Don't want another. In our League you have to start a LEFT FIELDER so I would not be able to put Holliday in LF with Soriano only haveing LF eligibilty (so I would have to plug him into DH and roll with Youk as my starting 1B... not good either). I also kinda want to sample the sleeper pile with firstbaseman this year and dont want to lock up 1B/3B/DH with my first pick (Have my eye on Votto and Chris Davis)
So if Rollins doesn't fall I'm thinking I should go get someone besides Santana/Holliday... top choices from the non-kept pool are;
Prince Fielder 1B
Brandon Phillips 2B
Ichiro Suzuki CF/RF
Nick Markakis RF
I have already decided to not take Holliday if he falls but feel like I am passing on massive value of I dont take Johan. What should I do if Johan falls to me?
