I am in a non keeper league with 20 teams . the commish used a draft randomizer and i got first pick overall. this is the set up Roster Positions: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, Util, SP, SP, RP, RP, RP, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL, DL Stat Categories: R, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, W, SV, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP stats seem to favor pitchers . so how should i approach the draft and pick nr one overall albert or hanley also should i try to take the best pitchers availabe in the 2nd and 3rd round or the best hitters. how about bulkin up on starters and relievers since the stats favor them 6 to 5
In a 20 team league I would definitely go with Hanley. I would not stock up on pitching early, draft offense with your first three (3) selections period. In a league this deep you cannot afford to draft a pitcher and have him either get injured or have a down year, which seems to always happen. Offense, Offense, Offense.
In my 20 team dynasty league, I had the first pick overall. I took Hanley Ramirez - there is no other option.
FWIW, I didn't take a P until the 5th round. I think my offense is pretty solid for a 20 teamer and I'll patch together my pitching as I go. Difference is this is a dynasty so guys like Price, Bruce, etc went earlier than most drafts would have them go. Here's what I've done so far with the 1st overall pick:
