Hi all,
I am joining a dynasty league for the first time this year, draft is early April. A little about the league:
10 teams
start typical 9 hitters / 7 pitchers
6 Bench
5 Minor leaguers
We are doing a snake draft with a salray cap. the players will be given a dollar value based on some site we pick ( based on last 3 yr average I beleive )
minor leaguers will be $1
I am looking for draft advice. Do I draft the same way I normally would but just slightly devalue older guys?
My main thought is to reach very early for elite minor league/rookie talent. Specifically, reach for Weiters very early considering I can get him for dirt cheap and have him basically forever. Would it be crazy to take weiters in the 4th/5th round? Or guys like J. Upton/Price etc several rounds earlier than ADP?
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you are pretty confident the league is going to be around for a while this is an excellent strategy. It should pay off and you should be set for a long time. However with this strategy you are unlikely to be competitive your first year and it could end up being pointless if the league doesn't stick together.
In one my dynasty league a while back I used this strategy (I knew the league would be around for a while since I was commish). I reached for Jose Reyes, Miguel Cabrera, and Francisco Rodriguez. Those players obviously worked out well and I was set because of it. The first year however I struggled as I also reached for a bunch of players that didn't pan out. After the first year though I was able to go into the next year with a group of awesome keepers and round out the rest of my roster from the draft or FA's during the year
