Help me finish off my team...WHIR

Postby NittanyLions1 » Sun Mar 01, 2009 10:06 pm

So I'm finishing off my team and need some utility guys to plug in my lineup. Its a 14-team head-to-head POINTS league (no categories). We count pretty much everything including -1 for a KO. I'm thinking of taking a chance on Kendry Morales right here as I like his upside but who do you guys think? I like that he has OF eligibility plus his career .325 avg in minors/good power. I plan on drafting a few middle relievers to round out my staff and I will probably draft a few of these hitters below in the next few rounds and hope to hit on one or two of them as good utility players/platoon players. Almost everyone has their hitting filled by now so most of these guys should be there in the next few rounds. Which hitters would you target? THANKS for the opinions!

My team so far
C - Martin
1B - Cabrera
2B - Kinsler
SS - HRamirez
3B - Gordon
OF - Hamilton
OF - Kemp
OF - Hart
OF - Kubel (may end up platooning him)
DH - AGonzalez
U -
U -
P (Start 14...need 3 more) - Gallardo, Kershaw, Fuentes, Slowey, Parra, Kuroda, JO Sanchez, Marshall, Bonderman, Anibal Sanchez, Perkins

BENCH (8 hitters)
DL (2 Spots)
Minors (2 Spots)

Top hitters available (by point projections plus some I like that I threw in at the bottom)
Helton
Willingham
Betencourt
Scott
Mora

Cuddyer

Hermida

Denard Span and or Ian Stewart for sure. Tons of upside on both.

Thanks ajk816 but Span and Stewart went in the 3 picks before me! I just took K Morales (cant stop looking at his career minors avg plus power at 25...15 homers in Winter League). Really wanted Span and Stewart in the next picks though! Oh well...

Wondering what you (and everyone else) thought of a strategy of targeting the hitters left with the most upside/playing time/multi-eligible guys (i.e. Most of the hitters I listed in the bottom section and A Cabrera) in the next couple rounds and then filling out my staff with a pick here and there of the best middle relievers left (we count holds). The reason I think this would work is I have 8 bench spots for hitters so I should hit on enough to fill out my starting hitting nicely...plus starting pitching is already pretty thin now anyway.

Anyway so how will my team look if I follow this strategy and is this what you would do? THANKS
