I have posed similar questions in the past and related to my keeper decision and I am now down to the final cut.
I am keeping Sizemore, Fielder, Markakis, Bay, Liriano, Bruce, and Tulowitzki... which player is the final piece to my keeper list and my championship puzzle??
J Verlander
J Werth
C Young (SD)
U Jimemez
M Aviles
B Morrow
When it comes to exaggerating, I always give 110%.
I'd keep Werth, although it's tough b/w him and Morrow. This is assuming that you have room to play 5 of your kept OF's. I look at Werth as a Hart-lite that gets drafted later. Sure he's turning 30 this year but in terms of service time he still has a nice bit of juice left in him.
Hal·la·day, n. 1. every fifth day in Philadelphia. 2. a day of rest for the bullpen. 3. innings eater. 4. doc. 5. ace.
I'm between Morrow and Verlander. While I'm a huge Werth fan, I don't think he's worth the pick here. Verlander if he can put it together has dominate stuff, Morrow might be the safer of the two.
It's either Werth or Verlander for me. I like Morrow, but he'll still be in that closer-to-starter transition, I'll say and perhaps he could be reverted back depending on how the M's closing situation plays out. Werth can give you close to 25/25 this season whereas I believe Verlander rebounds, though I don't expect the result to be dazzling. I'll give the edge to Werth.
I think it's clear that it comes down to Werth and Morrow here. Werth is a definite 20/20 guy but you already have some nice offensive options that you are keeping. Morrow has electric stuff and could be dominant as a closer or as a starter depending on where he ends up. I think I would lean towards Morrow here just out of need and potential.
