Uggla for J. Lopez, Nathan, and Cain

Postby pizzaboy76 » Sat Feb 28, 2009 9:59 am

We are in the trading period for our 12 team 5x5 keeper league, and have yet to submit keepers or draft. We can keep 15 players for a total of $320. I was just offered J. Lopez, Nathan, and Cain for Uggla. I am about $35 under the cap now and if I keep the 3 players in return it would put me close to the cap limit.

My SP keeperss - Peavy, Garza, and Wang
My RP keepers - Lindstrom, and B. Wilson

Should I do it or is the loss of power too much?

I think that's a pretty good return for Uggla...but it would depend on the rest of your roster and/or what else you'd be able to do with the cap money

My current keepers are;
C- Martin $25
1B - Morneau $35
2B- Uggla $16
3B - Gordon $17
IF - Mora $7
OF - Hamilton $11, Millidge $16, Nady $13, N. Cruz $15
Util - Choo $15
SP - Peavy $39, Garza $21, Wang $17
RP - Lindstrom $15, B. Wilson $13

If I traded Uggla and kept those 3 guys I would not keep Mora and either Choo or Cruz (depending how Spring training goes).

Still worth it? I figure I gain in all pitching stats and really only lose in HR's and RBI's.

Nathan is a huge upgrade at a position of weakness, and Cain is a nice young pitcher to have in a keeper. Letting Mora and Choo go is no biggie at all. I say YES, do the deal.

Here's mine, thanks in advance for your help: viewtopic.php?t=369339

Yep, I'd do it ... you can find a cheap source of power like Uggla at another position I'm sure. Before you start dropping guys like Mora, Choo or Cruz, try to move them in a package

I think it's over-paying for Uggla, but if you are the one benefiting than take advantage of it.

I agree Lopez is decent, and you get abtop tier Closer and a good starter to boot for a player with good power and below average BA

I would do the trade. It gives you an ace closer and a nice upside young pitcher for some power who hurts your average.
