Arod Or Pujols in a Keeper???? WHIR!!!!

Postby Xezus » Sat Feb 28, 2009 12:04 am

12 team H2H (1st year of a 3 year keeper) we can keep 7 players for 3 years. 8x8 Cats R, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SB, BB, AVG, / IP, W, L, CG, SV, K, ERA, WHIP

I have pick 3 and i know pick one is going with hanley and pick 2 just said hes picking someone other than Pujols or Arod.

So i need to know who to go with Pujols or Arod

1B is a bit more deeper but pujols has that insane average and is younger and therefore could be more productive over the 3 year keeper span.

On the other hand 3b is shallower and Arod has a better team around him but with all the steriod contreversy idk what to make of him this year although he did hit a HR in spring training game one :-D

Im leaning Toward Pujols but any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

I would take Pujols. Especially w/ the steriod controversy w Arod, I feel he is sensitive to fans booing him and he will probably have a subpar year for his standards. Take Pujols, imo.

I think you are on the right track with Pujols over Arod.

I agree with the things you said about each player. i would like to add that Pujols trumps Arod in the BB cat. On top of that, Pujols's crazy avg. will stabilize all the "adam dunn" and "ryan howard" on your team, something you cannot say about Arod. Furthermore, in three years Pujols wil be be 32-33 years old; Arod is turning 34 this summer. On the other hand, Arod's 3B eligibility is valuable because, with the exception of D. Wright + Longoria, most 3B are getting old, under performing prospect, and there is a shortage of superstar 3B from the minors. However, i think Arod's day as the consensus #1 player is over, he has too much baggage now because of the steroid thing. most people will overvalue Arod and think he can reproduce his 2001-2003 and 2007 sesason, but i think they will be disappointed. I would not bet against Arod coming back from this steroid thing, but i don't recall anyone similar to his situation
making an impact afterward.

can you take a look at my question one more time

Screw that noise.
Take Arod.
He missed time last year and still put up monster numbers. You can get another first baseman. Berkman or fielder or howard will be there on the back swing. You can't get another Elite 3b by the time it comes back around to you. Example: Youklis is a probably the 4th best 3b but the 9th best 1b.

and Arod will be productive for a few years still. Also depends on what your cost is to keep someone. If it's the round you pick someone you might not be keeping either for long depending on the rest of your draft (so take arod). If it's anybody with no penalty, it changes things (pooholes).

I take Pujols. He is one of the few who will walk a lot more than strikeout, and of course he is Mr. Consistent.

I would take A-Rod because 1B is such a deep position and it's hard to find top notch talent at 3B later in the draft.
