I am posting this for a friend. He can keep 5 players and will lose the pick in the corresponding round in this years draft if the player is kept. His keepers are due 2nd week in March.

Some tough calls in that list....especially Teixeira. One bit of info that might help would be what draft pick does he have. If he has very early pick, I would be a lot less likely to to keep Teixeira. But if he has a late 1st round pick, I don't think he can afford to drop Teixeira. The nature of the league also matters. Are all the other managers going to keep their elite players no matter what round they are in, or will they look for "value" and actually drop a lot of 1st round calliber players.
With that in mind, here are the guys I would keep:
Howard, Ryan 1B PHI Round 5 (Steal in the 5th round) Davis, Chris 3B TEX Last Round (Steal in the Last Round) Hawpe, Brad RF COL Round 9 (fair value here, though ...couldn't argue if he kept him) Gonzalez, Adrian 1B SD Round 3 (good, but not worth 3rd round pick in PetCo) Teixeira, Mark 1B NYY Round 1 (unless he has top 3 pick, I think he has to) Ankiel, Rick CF STL Last Round (In last round, I think Ankiel is better value than Hawpe) Webb, Brandon SP ARI Round 4 (top 5 pitcher...very good value in 4th round) Jurrjens, Jair SP ATL Last Round (Should be able to get him in late rounds again this year)
I know a lot of people don't like to have pitchers as "Keepers," but I don't think there is any way you can drop Webb. A 4th round pick is great value for Webb, and there isn't an elite hitter that needs to be dropped to make room for him. Gonzalez is good, but he is in a pitcher's park, so he just isn't worth a 3rd round pick. i also think it will be a lot easier to grab Gonzalez back during the draft than it would be to grab Webb.
Hawpe and Ankiel are the "bubble guys". I lean towards Ankiel, but couldn't go wron either way.
Here is a trade question I habve posted. I'd appreciate if you took a look at it. Thanks.
I wrote next years draft, but it should have said this years draft. So for example, if he kept Teix this year he would lose the round 1 pick.
Oh wow. I just looked and he has the #1 pick. So he defiantly wont be keeping Teix b/c he can get him back in the draft with that pick if he wants.

Since he has the #1 pick, here's my revised recommendation:
Howard, Ryan 1B PHI Round 5 Davis, Chris 3B TEX Last Round Hawpe, Brad RF COL Round 9 Gonzalez, Adrian 1B SD Round 3 Teixeira, Mark 1B NYY Round 1 Ankiel, Rick CF STL Last Round Webb, Brandon SP ARI Round 4 Jurrjens, Jair SP ATL Last Round
Gonzalez is now the bubble guy. But he's just not quite 3rd round level, especially since your buddy is going to have 1st pick in the 3rd round.

Hal·la·day, n. 1. every fifth day in Philadelphia. 2. a day of rest for the bullpen. 3. innings eater. 4. doc. 5. ace.

Don't know if Tex is worth an early 1st rounder if you think there will be better talent available with the 1st round pick. I would lean towards keeping him if you dont know who is gonna be available.
