Is this team a champion?

Postby churchservicemail » Tue Mar 04, 2003 11:25 pm

(This is my 2nd year with a Yahoo rotisserie league)

Draft:

CA Josh Bard
1B Richie Sexson
2B Brent Abernathy (waived)
3B Eric Hinske
SS Omar Vizquel
OF Hideki Matsui
OF Johnny Damon
OF Juan Gonzalez
Util Ellis Burks
Bench OF Melvin Mora (waived)
OF Karim Garcia
1B Brad Fullmer
CA Toby Hall(waived)

SP Curt Schilling
SP Hideo Nomo
RP John Smoltz
RP Byung-Hyun Kim
P Ricardo Rodriguez (waived)
P Jimmy Haynes
P Mark Prior
P Jose Contreras

My new signings are P Mike Timlin, OF Carlos Lee, 1B Erubiel Durazo, and 3B Corey Koskie.

Kim and Haynes are in the process of being traded for RP Danys Baez, and P Orlando Hernandez.

Timlin is in the process of being waived in order to sign RP Vladimir Nunez.

I do not currently have a second-baseman. I might get either Fernando Vina, Michael Young, John McDonald, or Brandon Phillips.

Is this team a champion? Thoughts and comments are welcome.

Champion is a tough call to make this early in the season. Your SP with Schilling, Prior, and Nomo will be very good. Your RP should be good if Smoltz can hold up another year.

Durazo, Koskie, and Lee were all good signings. Now work on getting yourself a 2B, shortstop and a catcher. Is Hall still available? He may be a good backup if Bard flops. Or even may be better than Bard.
Did you know there are no such things as "white" or "black" people?

Would Tony Womack work for a good utility shortstop? Hall is still available.

Like the Bible verse on your signature. ;-D

He is the way indeed!

Womack is good, I doubt there's much on the waiver wire left. His strength used to be SB, but those have been below 30 the past 2 seasons. Hard to see them jumping back up. Omar will steal less, but has higher OBP and SLG than Tony.
