Yah, sure. But it has to be considered a disappointment to him given that one of his conditions to approving any trade was the ripping up of the option years. It's just funny that after all that brouhaha he managed only slightly better (if that, depending on how much of the salary is deferred and when it's getting paid).

It also potentially cost Manny another WS ring. Bay is not Manny as a hitter and the Red Sox in the second half were not nearly the team they were in the first. Not to take anything away from the Rays, they had a great season, but if Manny had stayed in Boston, he at least would've had a shot at a third.
