Not to be a homer, but I was thinking the same thing. He would be an excellent sleeper for almost nothing assuming he gets a starting job. Word around here is that he is nowhere near a lock for a starting gig right now...but if he performs well in ST, he could definitely find himself at either 1st/3rd. We'll have to keep watching how he does...

right now i think the plan is to platoon him with phelps because it's been said he can't hit lefties. he hit a HR out of the stadium yesterday and ripped a double today both off lefties. if he can show bochy that he's capable of hitting against them, he could get a full time job and be a possible 20 HR hitter. i believe he's also a plus defender so that should help keep him in the line up.

The platoon with Phelps isn't a terrible idea. Phelps can actually do some damage against lefties, but from what I remember, he was just awful at 1B.

As for Ishikawa, he has had some many ups and downs that I'm not sure what to think. This is the same guy who was coming off a horrible season at Double A a year ago. He bounced back nicely last year and hopefully he has figured something out.

Yeah, I think it was his third of the game...

Seriously though, I don't know what to make of it though. The Indians announcers kept talking about how the breeze carries a lot of fly balls in that park. At first I though it was just Indian homerism, but the next day LaPorta hit what looked liked corn and it drifted right out of the park.

All that being said, Ishi's out of the stadium HR was crushed...

He looks like he could steal a handful of bags, as well. I can feel the hype heating up...

Interesting, he is someone I was watching as a possible contributor if everythign breaks right in the spring. Two questions:

1 - It was implied in the post above that he might gain 3B eligability - is this really the case?
2 - Where might he hit in the line-up? For a 1B who stand to be .280/20 tops, line-up position is sort of make or break in terms of fantasy viability. If he will be 6th or something like that I am not too excited.

I honestly don't think he's a regular player on an even decent team in the majors. Maybe he can carve out a pinch hitting role as a career ala Tony Clark.
