Who Do You Take 1st in this Situation?

Postby Santana4Cy » Thu Feb 26, 2009 7:10 pm

This is a 12 team, 5x5 roto league. I just traded up to the #1 pick (post-keeper) from my #11 spot by giving up Jake Peavy (who I wasn't going to keep) and my #11. My roster currently looks like this:

1B Mark Teixeira
SS Jose Reyes
OF Carlos Beltran
SP Roy Halladay

The following have been kept (ones in italics aren't official - still waiting on 1 team, but they are what I would project them to keep).

C: Brian McCann
1B: Mark Teixeira, Lance Berkman, Albert Pujols, Prince Fielder, Miguel Cabrera, Kevin Youkilis, Justin Morneau, Ryan Howard
2B: Brandon Phillips, Ian Kinsler, Dustin Pedroia, Brian Roberts, Chase Utley,
3B: Evan Longoria, David Wright, Alex Rodriguez, Chipper Jones
SS: Jose Reyes, Derek Jeter, Hanley Ramirez, Jimmy Rollins
OF: Carlos Beltran, Alfonso Soriano, Carlos Quentin, Josh Hamilton, Grady Sizemore, Matt Holliday, Jason Bay, Curtis Granderson, Jacoby Ellsbury, Manny Ramirez, Ryan Braun, Nick Markakis, Carlos Lee, Shane Victorino, Ichiro Suzuki, B.J. Upton, Nate McLouth
DH: David Ortiz
SP: Roy Halladay, Johan Santana, C.C. Sabathia, Tim Lincecum, Brandon Webb, Cole Hamels, Jake Peavy
RP: Jonathan Papelbon

So, as you can see, the top players available at this pick will be Aramis Ramirez, Adrian Gonzalez, Ryan Ludwick, Matt Kemp, Joe Mauer, Garrett Atkins, Vladimir Guerrero, etc.

My top 3 would be Aramis, AGon and Kemp. I've got a huge man crush on Kemp, but is Aramis the best pick for me here? I've got the 14th pick as well.

Well based on whats left and the fact that its a keeper league, you really have to take Kemp. If you were going to dump Peavy anyways seems like you made a pretty good deal here but to make it worth it you got to take a young gun which would be Kemp. The only other player I would consider is Mauer but Im sure you could get a decent catcher later. Kemp it is!

I like Kemp too. Gold in a keeper.
