<img src=/forums/images/smiles/kiss.gif>  Juan Uribe fractured his right foot landing on first base and will have surgery. He will miss 2 and possibly 3 months of the season.

With Uribe out, Jose Hernandez, the projected third baseman, will slide over to shortstop, leaving Chris Stynes, Greg Norton and Brent Butler to compete at third.

If you're looking for a good SS late in your draft or down the road, here's your man.

Now...Imagine him @ Coors...

Hmm... I recall thinking the same thing when Jeff Cirillo went from Milwaukee to Colorado. :-)

But you're right - Hernandez should be able to improve on last season's numbers, and looks like a great sleeper. At any rate, he's a very different type of hitter than Cirillo.

It'll be interesting to see what the Rockies' plans for Uribe will be...

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (Ticker) - The Baltimore Orioles, looking to land a slugger for the middle of their lineup, on Tuesday took a chance on Jack Cust, sending Chris Richard to the Colorado Rockies in for the highly regarded prospect.

Amid rumors the team is trying to acquire a cleanup hitter like Ken Griffey Jr., the Orioles sent Richard, who can play first base or outfield, and cash to the Rockies.

In Cust, Baltimore acquired a 24-year-old power hitter who can play first base but may best be suited for designated hitter.

This reminds me of one of my favourite jokes.

When asked to use the word horitculture in a sentence, young Jimmy thought a while and said "You can lead a horticulture but you can't make her think" lol..man that's a good one...haha.

There's a valuable lesson in there for the Rockies.
