Really? I remember that he was poor defensively, or maybe average at best. Anybody else know anything about his defense? (I find it is a big deal to factor in defensive skills when evaluating players for fantasy purposes, so I want to make sure my charts are right)

This is what I was basing it off of. I know he's limited to playing 1B but apparently he has very defensive hands according to the scouting stuff I read.
Today on espn radio with colin cowheard (spelling??), peter gammons said that stanton was the best prospect he has seen in several years. now, that was quite an endorsement if you ask me.

I'm a very big Stanton fan but he said something similar about Laynce Nix. So, be careful.
- I'd take Pedro, also he was out of shape for Fall/off season instructs I believe. But coming into spring training they've been nothing but impressed from what I've read.
- Also I wouldnt listen to Gammons about prospects, it's not like he is good at evaluating them or anything. All you have to do is listen to him talk about them to realize it, he just repeats mainly what others say.
- Votto will likely move to LF (he's played OF before and has enough range), so I don't really view Alonso as blocked to much.
Thanks for the follow up guys. Much appreciated. Here are the draft results so far (keep in mind most of the current minor leaguers are already on a farm and the most recent draftees are pretty much all that's available):
Round 1: 1. Mike Stanton 2. Justin Smoak - my pick 3. Pedro Alvarez 4. Buster Posey 5. Tim Beckham 6. Gordon Beckham 7. Brian Matusz 8. Dominic Brown 9. Michael Ynoa 10. Eric Hosmer 11. Keeper (no pick) 12. Brett Wallace
Round 2: 1. Carlos Santana 2. Yonder Alonso - my pick 3. Derek Holland 4. Jhoulys Chacin
I will update this as it goes along for general interest (assuming there is any). I know it looks bad that I took 2 guys who play 1B but my farm has no 1B and my MLB roster only has Hafner and Loney so it was time to bulk up on that. That and I really felt strongly that they were the best players on the board when I picked...this way there is a good chance one of them turns into a MLB producer.
