I am trying to get a handle on how much PT Saltalamacchia and Teagrden can be expected to have, and I know that DH is a possibility for Saltalamacchia. Has there been firm evidence from the Rangers on PT for either guy, or is it guesswork at the moment? And what is the guesstimate if so?
My guess, as of now: Salty starting with Teagarden getting more backup time than the usual catcher, with Max Ramirez in the minors. What will hopefully happen: Teagarden getting traded to the Red Sox (it could still happen, right?) where he would be the #1 catcher with Varitek getting more backup time than the usual catcher, then Salty getting 500+ AB from the C position in Texas with Ramirez getting some backup time. Either catcher would be good for DH if any of Davis, Blalock, Young, or Andrus gets injured (causing the entire infield to move around), or if Andrus underperforms and is benched/sent down so Young would move back to SS.
Rocinante2: you know Rocinante2: its easy to dismiss the orioles as a bad team ofanrex: go on Rocinante2: i'm done Rocinante2: lmao

It's not a question of "IF" Blalock gets injured it's "WHEN" will he be injured. I see Teagarden getting his at bats. I'm not convinced Salty is what he was thought to be.
Salty is still 23, and now has 154 games. For a 22-23 year old catcher a debut of a .726 ops and 14 homeruns over a 154 games really shouldn't put his previous prospect status into question imo.
My biggest concern about him is hitting lefties, hes a switch hitter but hes been really bad from the right side, his ops against righties being 830 and 553 vs lefties. I still think he will end up being a good solid offensive catcher even if he doesn't end up as an all star. At the very very least a good platoon option. Teagarden is in fact a righty by the way, so as far as fantasy goes at least most of his missed time should be against lefties anyway, avoiding some potentially bad stats and Texas should end up with decent production.
I think there are enough guys out there that he probably doesn't need to be started right away in mixed leagues, but I did stash him on the bench in any league I drafted a weak catcher.
