setting up my yahoo league...

Postby Trax » Mon Mar 08, 2004 1:41 pm

ok we are a 12-team H2H fantasy pts league.

The debate is whether to have weekly transactions or daily (takes effects next day).

My fear with daily trans is that guys will rotate in/out their SPs and end up with 20 starts per week...

anyone comments on the pros/cons of each??

do day to day. its alot more interactive and gives you something to watch and have more control over.

who cares to much about SP. set a min limits on innings and watch them implode themselves. every time is see people trying to start all pitchers usualy doesnt work because they get W and K but not hits or walks or whip.

daily is the best. so much more fun i think

I like daily. It makes me feel so much more involved. If it's weekly and I can't make it to the computer on that day, then what happens? I say make it daily and put a cap on moves. Anyone just making moves to improve and/or because of injuries shouldn't have more than 50-60, IMHO.

limit roster moves
set a maximum IP
play roto
or set it to weekly transactions.

So many people think that its part of the game to rotate SPs in H2H, that this is taken for granted. To me, its one of the stupidest parts about playing H2H - and I refuse to play in leagues where it is accepted.

What I would do is bring the issue to your league, and give them these options.

As far as I can see, there is no Max IP on Yahoo Baseball Plus or that would be a clear solution....the guys are play with dont want to play roto as we've had it H2H for 6 yrs.

Limiting roster moves is a good idea...

Set max roster moves per season like someone earlier pointed out. I did this last year, and did it in my basketball league too, worked well.

I am not a huge fan of fantasy football because there are only games once a week and you only set your roster once. If you do weekly moves, you are narrowing the gap between fantasy baseball and football.

Figure out how many weeks in the season, and a reasonable number of transactions per week. I'd say double the number of weeks in a season, but people could hoard their available transactions until the playoffs and then stream. Just pick something reasonable, and let everyone live with it.

There are 25 weeks, including playoffs. I would think that 60 is a good number.
