Chris Davis or Alexei Ramirez who to keep WHIR

Postby murphysxm » Wed Feb 25, 2009 1:33 pm

Ok, here's the situation, I can keep either one with my last round pick. Was set on Ramirez based on position, but then I started looking. I am about 90% sure these 3rd basemen will be kept:

ARod
David Wright ( i pick 6th, I assume he'll get drafted before I pick)
Evan Longaria
Kevin Youklis
Aubrey Huff

Am I better of keeping Davis so I don't have to worry about overpaying to get a quality 3rd bagger?

There are still some quality 3B left (A-Ram. Chipper, M-Cab, Atkins, etc), so I'd keep Alexei.

Thanks for the help on mine.

Miggy isn't 3rd base eligible anymore and I want no part of Chipper

I like Alexei as well. He has nice position versatility and some real good upside.

3B is a deep position, yeah the top end guys might be kept, but like Balco mentioned, there are still some real nice players out ther that you can get.

Would you rather have C. Davis and J. Lowrie/K.Greene/O. Cabrera or Alexei and Aramis Ramirez/Chipper/Atkins?

That's essentially the choice you're making because there are some solid options left at 3B, SS/2B gets thin pretty quick...

Help me out?

Steven Drew and Hanley are the only sure fire keeps at the MI spots, I'm sure there will be others as well. My hope is I draft Jose Reyes in my 6th slot

I think they're even - so who's available (as far as you can tell) at 1st/3rd - 2nd/ss, in the draft.

What makes you think he his owner won't keep him?

I'd imagine that Reyes, Rollins,Utley, Drew would be pretty sure-fire keepers at MI.

With Kinsler, Roberts, Pedroia, Phillips and possibly Uggla also potential keepers.

I've noticed that people tend to clin on to their MI players when they get a good one, because it seems that there is a pretty sharp declie past the top tier. At 3B you can get good production out of the 10th best playr.

Id keep Alexi because of position scarcity. He's like a mini Soriano. ...harder to find guys like that

The guy that has Reyes also has ARod, he can only keep one as they are both 1st rounders. In looking at last year's draft Pedroia and Kinsler will also be kept. This is a league where people keep value not talent. They guy who has Rollins for instance picks 3rd. It makes no sense for him to waste his 1st round pick on Rollins since he can redraft him worst case scenario. Utley will be in the pool as well since I doubt the owner will want to risk his pick on a player that may not be ready for opening day.

I could be wrong, but I''m pretty confident I will have Reyes, Rollins or Utley available with my 6th pick. I think I can still get a elite MI, but not so certain at 3rd base unless I reach for ARam.
